Events in Dubai
The beginning of the year starts with the Dubai Shopping Festival, which over the years has become quite a tourist attraction where retail spending is through the roof. Besides all the shopping you can enjoy an international fashion show or look at fireworks in the evenings among many other things. This Festival begins in January and carries on for 32 days, most of February as well. The Dubai Shopping Festival is one of the most spectacular events in Dubai, with non-stop shopping and entertainment.If you are interested in horses or just want to experience some sports in this period as well, you should visit the Dubai World Cup. This event in Dubai takes horse racing to the highest level, because it gathers the leading thoroughbreds by raffling off the biggest purse in the sport. I would recommend experiencing this event in Dubai, because the event is so unique and because it consists of the absolute elite.
While on the subject of pure elite, however it is not actually among the events in Dubai, because it in fact is held in Abu Dhabi. You probably already guessed, that I’m referring to the Formula One circus that stops by right next door in Abu Dhabi usually in November. F1 is the chief of motor sport and you can encounter the entire circus up-close and it’s actually considered as one of the events in Dubai, because it’s so close. Now just to dwell a bit in the sports area, there are actually a lot of events in Dubai if you are into sports. In December you can witness the Rugby Sevens, which is really great entertainment along with fun and social activities for an entire weekend of Rugby. Probably one of the most traditional events in Dubai is the Ramadan where Dubai is fasting from sunrise till sundown. Once the sun goes down, it is time for Iftar, where people break the fast and eat and enjoy each other’s company. When the Ramadan period is over it is time to celebrate, and this celebration is called Eid.
